7 Android ES File Explorer Features You Never Knew Of

This is a guest post compiled by Favour Abalogu for

It is no longer a rumor but a fact that ES File Explorer has proven itself worthy to be called the best file managing app for Android. However, ES File Explorer comes with some cool features which makes it stand out among other file managing applications.

Do you wish to protect your files? Do you wish to rename a group of files in a single tap? Do you wish to recover your deleted files easily? These and other wishes of yours will be granted today as I am with 7 Magic Wand to grant your wishes (#wink).

Below are 7 features of ES File Explorer, you ought to know:

1. Encryption/Decryption of Files
ES File Explorer provides you with an option to add a password (encryption) to your file(s) so that it becomes un-accessible unless the password protection is being disabled.
To use this feature, locate the file you wish to encrypt, tap and hold on it for about 3seconds, tap the drop-down menu button on the upper right corner of your screen and select ‘Encrypt’ then set your desired password.

To decrypt, simply follow the same process explained above but select ‘Decrypt’ in the drop-down menu this time.

2. File Compression/Extraction
With EX File Explorer, you can easily compress your files into ‘.zip’ ‘.tz’ or ‘.gz’ archives so as to make your files less scattered and easy to transfer. You can also extract archives easily with ES File Explorer without necessarily downloading any separate application.
To compress a file, locate the file/folder destination, mark your desired files, select compress, choose a name for the archive, add a password if you wish then select ‘OK

3. File Invisibility by Renaming
With ES File Explorer, you can easily rename a folder to make it hidden by adding a dot (.) before the folder name.
To do this, locate the folder you wish to hide, tap and hold on to the folder for about 3secs, tap the option button close to the drop-down menu button on the upper right corner of your device’s screen, add a dot (.) sign before the folder name then select ‘OK’. Now, when one tries to access the folder via your phone’s file manager, it won’t be visible unless the process is being reversed by removing the (.) sign.

4. Battery Optimization
This feature is one of the unknown but key features of ES File Explorer. Aside the app’s ability to properly manage files, ES File Explorer provides an in-built memory cleaning tool which helps in cleaning your phone’s memory by clearing some background apps/files draining your battery.
To use this feature, on the main page (the page that shows up when you open the application), drag your thumb from the left corner of your screen to the right corner to view the hidden option menu. On the menu, select ‘Cleaner’ then tap ‘Clean Now’.

5. Temporal Delete of Files
With ES File Explorer, You can easily delete a file temporarily by adding it to a Recycle Bin present in the app. These deleted files can easily be recovered later on from the Recycle Bin. To move files to a recycle bin, drag your thumb from left to right over your screen, then enable the recycle bin feature by tapping sliding button beside it.

After enabling it, try deleting a file and you will be asked if you want to move the file to recycle bin, select ‘OK’ and your files will be temporarily deleted.
To restore the deleted file(s), return back to the option menu, tap ‘Recycle Bin’ then restore the file you desire.

6. Renaming Files in Batch
With ES File Explorer, you can easily rename a group of files in a single click.
To do this, mark the files you wish to rename, tap the rename button on the upper right corner of your screen then input a file name.

7. SD Card Analysis
ES File Explorer, you can easily analyze/monitor your SD card storage where you can see the size of each folders/files and also see the amount of free/used space available on your SD card. To do this, drag your thumb from the left side of your screen then select SD card analyst.

There you have it, 7 features of ES File Explorer you never knew of. Now you know, what’s next? Go ahead and take advantage of them!

UNILORIN Primary Education Programme Is Now Approved by NUC

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given the management of the University of Ilorin the go-ahead for its newly established Primary Education programme, having satisfied all necessary conditions needed for the successful take-off of the course.

The NUC’s nod came through its accreditation team that visited the University last Monday (December 14, 2015).

Presenting her report at the end of the team’s visit last Tuesday (December 15, 2015), the leader of the accreditation team, Prof. Julie Ibiam, commended the management of the University of Ilorin for putting in place all necessary requirements for the new programme.

The accreditation team leader, who is a Professor of Childhood Education, Department of Primary Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, explained that the team visited the Department of Primary Education, the University Library, laboratories and other related places on campus, saying that what they found on ground had shown clearly that the University was indeed ready for the course.

Prof. Ibiam disclosed that the team had examined the academic content, curriculum, physical structure of the Department, the admission modality, the laboratory and library facilities, among others.

She advised the authority of the University to intensify efforts on things that would further give the Department a face-lift so as to be rated as one of the best in the country.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), thanked the NUC team for painstakingly screening the Department without fear or favour.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented on the occasion by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Gabriel Olatunji, explained that the University of Ilorin is very conscious of standard when it comes to research, teaching and community service.

Prof. Olatunji described Primary Education as the foundation that must be given a proper attention and recognition to ensure that everything built on it stands on a good footing.

He then pledged that the University would do everything possible to ensure that the institution sustains its leading role in terms of academic integrity.

Earlier on Monday, the accreditation team was welcomed to the University by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (RTI) on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali.

The leader of the team, Prof. Ibiam, said the team was in the University of Ilorin to perform a national assignment given to them by the National Universities Commission as regards the accreditation of Primary Education, a new programme in the institution.

She explained that the NUC representatives were not in the University to   witch-hunt the authority of the institution but to look at what is on ground in the new Department.

Prof. Ibiam, therefore, sought the cooperation and assistance of the University authority by providing the team with necessary information and enabling environment needed to carry out the exercise effectively and efficiently.

In his response, Prof. Olatunji urged members of the accreditation team to feel free to conduct their exercise, pledging that the authority of the University would provide them with necessary materials, documents and necessary information they needed for the job.

MTN Bblite Still Working With SS and Seriously Blazing With Psiphon - Check Out The Setting

MTN BB10 Lite Plan has been a better means for us to enjoy unlimited surfing on PC and Android Devices for a very long period of time. For quite some days now, I received lots of complaints that MTN Bblite no longer works with Simple Android Server which has broken a lot of people's hearts.

This is to let the whole fans know that Bblite is still blazing very well on both PC and Android device. It's just that there is a new update on Simple Android Server, the developer of SAS has upgraded it to the premium version. The New version have 2 in 1 methods of connecting, both Local server and VPN services. The  SAS premium version goes around N356.49 per week and  N700.00 per month, but you can still use, the local server, which we have been using all the while and is FREE, but not response as before, due to fact that the owner of SAS wants all users to go for premium.

Will you upgrade your Simple Android Server to premium when you still have alternative VPN's? This is not to discourage you for using SAS premium version, but we are here to give you various nice options. For PC users, nothing like SimpleServer Premium for now, the old SimpleServer.exe with the support of SimpleServer.ini still blazing very well on PC via Bblite and Psiphon Handler is working flawlessly with Bblite on Android device, which you can use as an alternative to SAS. Below is how you can get it rolling.

Apple wins lawsuit claiming messages to Android were blocked

You certainly have reason to be upset at how Apple handled iMessages for users switching away from iOS, but it's clear that not everyone has raised those gripes the right way. Judge Lucy Koh (from the Apple-versus-Samsung case) has
dismissed alawsuit arguing that Apple effectively wiretapped iMessage chats to prevent them from reaching Android users. There's no mention of the reasons for dismissal in the court order. However, Apple had asked the judge to toss the case when it learned that two of the plaintiffs dumped their iPhones after the case began -- they'd eliminated important evidence.

As it stands, the wiretapping connection was strained. The issue wasn't that Apple was looking at and blocking iMessages, but rather that it didn't have a way to deliver those texts when recipients ditched their iPhones without deactivating iMessage first. Think of it as moving without leaving a forwarding address -- the post office can't give you a letter if it still thinks you're at your old place. This doesn't excuse the headaches involved with ditching iOS, but it's clear that this suit didn't have much chance of success.

Personally, doesn’t know how this will feel because I already made use of the Whatsapp calling features and it seems to be getting better every now and then considering the fact that not every body makes use of Skype Video calling… but there are more people who uses WhatsApp chat but not the call.

What if the next update that will be rolling out to Blackberry and Android comes with Video Calling… will you love it? Well, a German blog has leaked screenshots of the WhatsApp video calling feature from private beta versions of the iPhone version of the app. Screenshots of the video calling feature show that users will be able to turn off the mic as well as flip the camera.

The layout of video calls shows two windows, one each for the caller and the person who has received the call.

So iOS users, braise up and warm up because the next WhatsApp update that will be rolling into your device come 2016 might carry the video calling features.

Genius for Android shows lyrics for whatever you're playing

A Genius app update can match lyrics to anything playing on your device, no matter what app you're using.

Genius is all about digging up lyrics for that song you're listening to, so it would only make sense if it brought up those lyrics at the very moment the song comes on, wouldn't it? Sure enough, you're getting that feature now. A
recent update to the Android app introduces lyric matching for whatever you're playing, in any app -- whether it's Apple Music, Google Play Music or Spotify, you'll get those verses as soon as they're relevant. They'll only be as good as the crowdsourced material allows, of course, but it beats scratching your head when an unintelligible line comes up mid-tune.

BMW and Nissan roll out dual-plug EV chargers across the US

Lexus isn't a newcomer to the world of bizarre vehicle concepts. Back in October, the company introduced the Origami Car, a working electric IS sedan made out of cardboard. Fast forward to today and Lexus is showing off an NX
crossover with ice wheels -- yes, ice wheels. This project, aptly called Ice-Tyre Lexus NX, features a set of hand-sculptured tires created from multiple blocks of ice, each one intended to recreate the look of Lexus' alloy wheel and its companion Yokohama winter tire.

The automaker says it took three months to put everything together, which includes having to freeze the Lexus NX for five days in a sub-22-degree Fahrenheit (30 degrees Centigrade) temperatures. Wild.

MW and Nissan roll out dual-plug EV chargers across the US

In some says, Tesla's Supercharger network is its ace in the hole -- you can buy one of the company's electric cars knowing that you'll have speedy charging when away from home. BMW and Nissan aren't going to let this competitive edge go unanswered, though
. They're launching a network of 120 dual-format fast chargers (both CHAdeMO and CCS) across 19 US states, any of which should bring most EVs up to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. The stations should be available now, and you can find them in the automakers' respective mobile apps.

The team-up is mostly meant to spur sales of the i3 and Leaf, of course, but the brands are also aware that this could help the EV industry as a whole. Right now, many public charging stations are still the slow variety that won't help much when you're eager to get home. Having even a modest network of (mostly) universal fast chargers could boost the confidence of buyers worried that the hassles of owning an EV could outweigh the environmental and financial advantages.

FG Vow to Impose Another Fine on MTN if...

This issue of MTN fine is becoming something else oooo. Just recently, MTN took NCC to court regarding the 1.4Trillion fine after it has been reduced.

The Federal Government, yesterday, said it would neither be cowed nor threatened by MTN’s court action against the N1.4trn fine which was later reduced to N780 billion, insisting that the telecommunications company risks another fine if it fails to pay on deadline.

According to the Minister of Communication, it is the right of MTN to approach the court but there was an infraction, which MTN admitted to have committed before it pleaded for leniency that led to the reduction of the fine from N1.4 trillion to N780 billion and the subsequent December 31, 2015 deadline to  pay.

“It will surely be fined for violating the rule at the expiration of the deadline, should it fail to pay the initial fine.”

Say a word of prayer for MTN in your daily meditations...
